Job Description:

In Hanover, PA we produce Rings and Seals for the Aerospace and Industrial markets. Extreme product range fragmentation, complex product design, very high-quality standards and traceability requirements are the peculiarity of our Business Unit.

The Tool Maker will analyze design specifications, cut/shape metal, assemble parts, and test completed products for use. This position requires use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, and a variety of precision measuring instruments and devices. To be successful in this position, you will need to use considerable care when setting up exacting and difficult procedures. You will need to avoid distortion, ensure rigidity, maintain alignment between interrelated surfaces, accuracy of center distances between holes and registering points, squareness, and angular relationships. In this position, you will also have the opportunity to diagnose and remedy any machine tool or fixture trouble.

  • All hourly employees will be part of the United Steelworkers Union (USW).
  • Journeyman Machinist or Journeyman Tool & Die required.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US citizenship is required.

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

  • Plan, layout, and perform all bench & machine operations on a wide variety of complicated tools, jigs, fixtures, dies and gages, working from blueprints, sketches, samples or verbal instructions.
  • Set up and operate any type of machine, such as: engine lathe, milling machine, external, internal or surface grinders, shaper, planer, and drill press.
  • Determine sequence of operations, adapt methods, and equipment to carry job through to completion.
  • Avoid distortion, assure rigidity, and maintain alignment between interrelated surfaces.
  • Ensure accuracy of center distances between holes and registering points, squareness, and angular relationships.
  • Work with tolerances usually .0005”.
  • Fit, file, grind, polish, shape lap, assemble, adjust mechanisms.
  • Make tool tryouts.
  • Diagnose and remedy any machines tool or fixture trouble; tear down machines.
  • Direct the activities of lower skilled craftsman.
  • Keep proper reporting documentation.
  • Suggest changes in tool design to facilitate production.
  • Keep machines oiled and clean.
  • Keep work area clean and work in a safe manner.
  • Refer to supervisor for clarification of priorities, objectives, or policies.

This position requires the Ability to use the following equipment:

  • Tools and equipment common to tool room family.
  • Variety of gages, comparators, precision measuring instruments.
  • Hand and power tools, prints and trucks.

Requirements:

  • Due to the nature of the work, US citizenship is required.
  • All hourly employees will be part of the United Steelworkers Union (USW).
  • Journeyman Machinist or Journeyman Tool & Die required.
  • Minimum 3-years of tool and die making experience.
  • Prior experience reading complicated drawings, specifications, charts, etc. & a variety of precision measuring instruments and devices.
  • Comprehensive communication skills in the English language via electronic communications and in-person.

Pay $29.45 to $30.6per hour
